Got around to editing more wedding pictures last night...I kinda liked these formals. The last picture was a staged redo of the kiss, but in the series I shot (in burst mode) this one was caught without any flash and I really liked it better than the ones that were lit better. Of course, maybe it's just me. :)

I met with a bride, her mother, and her soon-t0-be mother-in-law today. We looked around the church and all inside, scoping out the lighting and the space for photographs when I shoot their wedding on the 18th. I enjoyed talking with them and I think we will have a lot to work with on the big day. The church itself is nearly 100 years old and has some beautiful features. It's rather dark though, so I hope my new flash and lightsphere will be able to make a difference and capture this important day for them. Wish me luck! :)
I had to add this picture...a candid snap that I got today. The full shot was the entire face but I like how this version turned out. Thinking of entering it in Square Crop but I'm not sure how a grainy kid half-pic would do. I still like it a lot. :)

Tonight I shot a few pictures at the mock trial for our local high school's production of "Shattered Dreams." If you're not familiar with the program, it's a drunk-driving prevention program targeting high school students, especially during the spring/prom season. There is a mock fatality crash near the school, to which all students are released from class to go see, complete with ambulances, care flight, etc...and a trip to the trauma room for some of the "victims," where at least one is pronounced dead. The parents are notified, and everything is handled as if it were real. There are funerals for the deceased, and the drunk driver is booked and goes to jail. The whole program takes a few days to complete. Tonight was the culmination of this year's event, with the defendent being found guilty of DWI and vehicular manslaughter. It's very emotional for all involved, and I think it makes a great impact on the students and their families. If one kid chooses not to drink and drive, it's worth it. :)

Today I'm starting duo/tri/quadtones and I happened to have a guitar in the office to take a few snaps for a friend...she's having a cake made in the shape of a guitar for her son's groom's cake at his wedding. I decided I liked the snapshots so I converted them into black and white. I have a Texas theme in my office, so the guitar just kind of fit right into my surroundings. :)
